This morning I did what any decent architecture student in a class that has nothing to do with his major would do. I attempted to make a list of every car I’ve ever driven, and then arranged them into a clickbaity list format for your timewasting pleasure. I’m sure I’m forgetting a few, but here we go-
1. Acura NSX
There may never be a perfect car in this world, but the NSX is perfect to me.
2. Jag F-Type V8 Convertible
3. Porsche Cayman GT4
-Numbers 2 and 3 took some thought. With all the GT4 hype aside, I feel like I would have just a bit more fun in the Jag day to day. Obviously no one is going to cross-shop them, and I’m a bit weird regardless.
4. Shelby GT350
5. Datsun 240Z
6. Mclaren MP4-12C
-Also, very likely the fastest car I’ll ever drive
7. Lamborghini Huracan
8. Aston Martin V8 Vantage
9. C7 Corvette Z06
-Would be higher, but it honestly has too much power. (That’s why the GT350 is #4) The 7-speed manual is a bit annoying as well.
10. 991 Porsche GT3
11. e30 M3
-Yes, I put my childhood dream car as #11. Just goes to show that you shouldn’t make assumptions about a car before driving it.
12. Shelby Cobra
13. 1963 Corvette Stingray Convertible.
-The coolest car by far, if not the best
14. Mercedes C63 AMG
15. e39 M5
-And yes, I put the C63 above the e39. Go cry about it.
16. Chevy C10
17. 2003 Mustang Mach 1
18. Honda S2000
19. 1993 Sentra SE-R
-The only one with my name on the title. It’s my first car and I paid $2000 for it... The fact that it’s even in the top half is a win unto itself.
20. BMW i8
21. Range Rover Sport (x2)
22. 1969 911T
-That’s right, it’s 22nd. Let the hate flow through you...
23. 1966 Mustang
24. Bentley GTC
25. Range Rover (Full size)
26. Porsche Panamera
27. Ford Explorer
-Way faster than it has any right to be, but still a Ford Explorer
28. 2009 Honda Fit
29. Ford Bronco
30. 2005 Civic Sedan (Manual)
31. Jeep Wrangler
32. 2015 VW Jetta (n/a, manual)
33. Fiat 500
-Test drove one when they first came out. Fun little cars, but the steering kills it. If I drove an Abarth I’d imagine it would be much much higher.
34. 2016 VW Jetta (1.8t, Auto)
35. 2009 Civic coupe (Auto)
36. 2013 Civic sedan (Auto)
37. My Roommate’s 2000 Altima
38. Chrysler 200
-I’ll be honest, I remember nothing about driving it. Let’s be honest here though...
39. 90-something Corolla
-My friends first car; he beat the shit out of it and blew the motor, and them immediately bought a Mach 1 (#17)
40. Chevy Cobalt
-It’s actually kind of a relief that this car is last; knowing that I’ll never drive something as bad as that again.
All the stuff I couldn’t rank:
There’s a few other cars I’ve driven, but not enough to really form an opinion on -
-Dodge Charger SRT8 Superbee
-Lancia Delta Integrale
-Porsche 993 C4s
-Mercedes 300SL
-Ferrari 458 Spyder
Christ that took a while... Now you try!

Easy:
My ‘05 V50 2.4i, great little chassis from Ford, I don’t mind the small amount of power but the I5 sounds amazing even N/A form
Our ‘05 Odyssey - actually feels rather similar to the V50 except with more power and waaaayyy more body roll
My dad’s ‘01 V70 T5 - turbo lag and torque which is fun, but a jerky transmission and cruise ship turning circle which is not
Grandparents Camry XLE V6 - fast, but with icky steering, touchy throttle response, and all the controls felt rather vague despite the car being in excellent condition for all of its life
Driving Instructor Camry LE I4 - 260K miles and counting, all the issues mentioned with the Camry above combined with a beat up interior and an engine that sounded like three hamsters running on a single exercise wheel at idle. Tragic.
Anyways, don’t judge by the shortness of the list, I only got my license two months ago! ;) Hopefully there will be far more amazing cars in my future...

Your list proves my automotive life has been underprivileged! Man... I got to about 10 and thought really... then saw everything below.
I’m about a year and a half from getting my next ride. I’m already hoping that NSXs stay reasonable, if not that then first gen Vipers, if neither hopefully the dropoff isn’t too bad.
Hot take: a 325iX coupe 5 spd is the best US-spec E30 :)

This is a really good list! I see where you’re coming from on all of them. I like how you knew exactly which ones to add an extra comment to.
I probably would have similar tastes.
I think my biggest surprises were the F-Type and the Datsun. #2 is very high praise for the F-Type. Nice.
I’d like to see more lists like this. It would be fun to see Matt Farrah order all of his one-take drives from favorite to least. But I guess then he would spend the rest of his life defending his opinion from the internet.

I think that if this list says anything, it’s that I like nice sounding cars...

Hey, that’s a way better list than mine was at that time!

It was a lie, Steven!

I’d love to drive a Viper, I’ve ridden in a first gen but never got to drive it. I’m not sure if I’d agree with the 325, but then again, I haven’t driven one of those either!

I don’t get it, but...
yes

I’m teasing you, claiming that you couldn’t have driven all of those cool cars.

“40. Chevy Cobalt
-It’s actually kind of a relief that this car is last; knowing that I’ll never drive something as bad as that again.”
Considering the fact it could likely have killed you, yeah, I wouldn't want to drive it again either.

1. 323CI
2. Mitsubishi Galant (rental)

It was a driving school car, no less

You were right though, I was lying.
My roommate’s Altima is a 2001

I got to wring out a Model S P85. Fastest thing I’ve ever driven. Turned off the traction control and smoked the rubber a bit. The owner didn’t even know there
was
traction control, let alone, that you could turn it off. Other than that, the fanciest thing I’ve ever driven was a 1995 Lincoln Town Car.

Never had a chance to drive a Tesla but I’d love to some day!

Doesn’t CCC have a P85? They did when I was last there, at least.

We did, but that was before I was there. I think the i8 replaced it

Ranking car’s we’ve driven?
1. Tied in first place is my Alfa 156 V6 and my old BMW E36 325i
BMW has the better chassis, Alfa has the better engine
2. Jaguar XJ40
If you went by driving dynamics it shouldn’t be 2nd (although it’s better than it has any right to be and is a big puppy when it comes to sliding the rear) but it makes you feel like such a baller driving it around that that alone is worth it.
3. MG F
The only car I’ve driven that genuinely feels like a go-kart in corners. Lightweight and grippy, with enough power from the VVC K-Series to keep up with my mate’s 231 RX-8 which was a surprise
4. Citroen BX non-turbo diesel
The ultimate explanation as to why you don’t need a powerful engine to enjoy a car. It’s got 70hp from a 1.9l non-turbo diesel but it flat-out does not matter. It’s slow (but not as bad as you think), it clatters around like a locomotive but it’s so god-damn endearing. You cannot help but love this 80s vision of a budget space-ship. Oh, and did I mention that the suspension goes up and down!
5. Alfa 156 2.4 JTD
If anyone can make a turbodiesel sound good it’s Alfa. It’s meaty, and there’s a definite hint of Audi Quattro turbo-5-cylinder warble when you push it. I kind of want to put an uncorked one of these into an Alfetta GTV...
6. Toyota MR2
Only driven it at the track so I can’t comment on road manners (which is why it’s not higher). A little more roll than the MG F, but otherwise very similar. Great fun :)
7. Lifted Suzuki Jimny
A bit of a disappointment as I was looking for a Lada Niva but the rental company in Iceland didn’t have one (even though I specifically booked one). Compared to that is just felt like a normal car which is not what I wanted to pay £120 for. When I stopped sulking about that and found some gravel roads it was actually quite fun :)
8. Ford Ka/Nissan Micra/Peugeot 106 1.1l
Same variation on small tin cans with small engines.Fun to fling around (less so the Nissan) and redline to get anywhere quickly, but it’s easy to see why people into cars move on relatively quickly.
9. Honda Stream (x2)
Annoyingly I’ve driven two of these. They’re not bad. They work. You can fit shitloads of things in the back, even if those things are people. When you rev them to get any kind of speed out of them they let out a sort of distressed mooing noise. Good for what they’re designed to do. Not good at doing what they’re not designed to do. Understandable.
10. Ford Ranger 2.2 Turbodiesel
Our tow truck to pick up various junk cars. Did well at that, but it’s probably got a broken engine mount cos it vibrates horribly at idle. Oh, and when it’s unladen at the back the ride is very jiggly. Not certain how people drive these as everyday transportation, but again, good at what it’s designed to do.

We should trade lives for a day so I can drive that Alfa

If I can drive the Datsun or the Delta Integrale for a day you're on :)

I’m so glad the 240z is so far up the list. This was my first car and I loved it. It taught me how to drive and how to wrench. I’m hoping to help my dad restore a white 71 this summer. This is the other ‘71 Z that my dad races. It’s quite a hoot, about 350 hp and totally set up suspension. I get an adrelinin rush every time I drive it.

I’d say the one I’m most surprised by is the 2001 Mustang, over the S2000.
